SUMMARY:Gardening From Seed Workshop • Taller de Jardinería a Partir de Semillas
DESCRIPTION:An hour-long workshop exploring the basic knowledge and practices involved in planning\, designing and creating a successful home garden\, with a special focus on starting from seeds. Seed starting is easy\, economical and satisfying\, as it allows the average person\, with a little additional time and effort\, access to a much broader selection of plants\, in larger quantities\, at a small fraction of the cost that would be involved in buying plants at a garden store or nursery. \nWhether you are planning on growing a garden in pots on a patio or balcony or in creating garden beds or on seeding a wildflower meadow\, the workshop will focus first on the basic information the gardener needs to consider\, including selecting appropriate flowers\, herbs and vegetables\, seasonal planning and the appropriate options for creating a garden in the space you have available. \nIncluded will be a hands-on demonstration of seed starting with a small take-home project and handouts with information on gardening sources for further exploration. \n• • • \nUn taller de una hora de duración que explora los conocimientos y prácticas fundamentales para planificar\, diseñar y crear con éxito un jardín doméstico\, con especial énfasis en el cultivo a partir de semillas. La siembra de semillas es un método sencillo\, económico y gratificante\, ya que permite a cualquier persona\, con un poco más de tiempo y dedicación\, acceder a una selección mucho más amplia de plantas\, en mayores cantidades y a una fracción del costo que implicaría comprarlas en una tienda de jardinería o vivero. \nYa sea que se tenga previsto cultivar un jardín en macetas sobre un patio o balcón\, crear canteros de cultivo o sembrar una pradera de flores silvestres\, el taller se centrará primero en la información básica que conviene considerar\, incluyendo la selección adecuada de flores\, hierbas y hortalizas\, la planificación estacional y las opciones más apropiadas para desarrollar un jardín en el espacio disponible. \nLa actividad incluirá una demostración práctica de siembra de semillas\, un pequeño proyecto para llevar a casa y material informativo con recursos de jardinería para profundizar en el tema.
