Illinois Family Reading Night

November 19, 2020

The State of Illinois marks November 19 as its annual Family Reading Night this year. This night encourages families to read together as a group to reinforce the importance of building literacy skills at a young age, but also to build family bonds.

Please use this night as a night to stay home and read together, or visit your school, public library, or literacy program to “Read Together Grow Together”.

Photos from your Family Reading Night may be submitted for consideration in future Illinois State Library publications. Email photos in JPEG format to bmatheis@ilsos.gov.

Please note: All photo correspondence must include contact information, a description, as well as the first and last names of each person in the photo. If any of your photos are selected, you will be contacted to obtain release information for those in the pictures.

Family Reading Night is sponsored in cooperation with iREAD, an initiative of the Illinois Library Association, and Illinois Reads, a project of the Illinois Reading Council.
