Gardening From Seed Workshop
An hour-long workshop exploring the basic knowledge and practices involved in planning, designing and creating a successful home garden, with a special focus on starting from seeds. Seed starting is easy, economical and satisfying, as it allows the average person, with a little additional time and effort, access to a much broader selection of plants, in larger quantities, at a small fraction of the cost that would be involved in buying plants at a garden store or nursery. Whether you are planning on growing a garden in pots on a patio or balcony or in creating garden beds or on seeding a wildflower meadow, the workshop will focus first on the basic information the gardener needs to consider, including selecting appropriate flowers, herbs and vegetables, seasonal planning and the appropriate options for creating a garden in the space you have available. Included will be a hands-on demonstration of seed starting with a small take-home project and handouts with information on gardening sources for further exploration.
